I am Nancy R. Curtis and along with my husband, Mark Sullivan, and an assorted cast of characters, travel, explore, and share our adventures.
I am a writer. After I learned my ABCs, I sat on the floor of my mother's sewing room writing letters on a magazine renewal card. Proudly, I announced, "Look, Mom! I'm a writer!" I was probably four years old.
My first Bachelor's Degree is in Creative Writing. I also took a lot of Business classes. (Knowing how to balance a checkbook is important.) I have written for industry journals, fiction, and television. I had a twenty-five year career in commercial real estate before experiencing a big fat mid-life crisis. I quit my job, and, long story short, ended up in nursing school, where writing was my golden ticket. If I could write it, I could make an "A." (I was a much better student when I paid for it than I was when Dad paid for it.)
I digress... I love narration and description. I love to travel. I love to meet people, discover their stories (something I particularly loved in my career as a Hospice nurse,) and I love to share my adventures in writing, generally on my Facebook page. In the summer of 2022, my husband and I took a two-month trip to England, Wales, Scotland, Ireland, Isle of Man, and a quick soiree to the coast of France.. I chronicled our adventures in over forty Facebook posts, and enjoyed hearing my friends tell of "traveling vicariously" with us through my tales.
Ergo, this blog, nancywrites.fun, or Another Day, Another Adventure. We never stay in one place all that long. Florida is home of record, delightful place in the winter, second cousin to hell in the summer. Vermont (or anywhere but Florida) is where I like to spend Hurricane Season (May through mid-November.) We have a second home, The Cottage, in Quechee, Vermont, a village that spawned a resort-style development with mountain homes, condo communities, two golf courses, ski hill, hiking trails, large multi-venue Country Club, and a lake fed by the Ottauqueechee River. Vermont is sparsely populated (compared to Florida,) traffic is minimal, people (locals) are very nice, the food is fabulous, and it’s fairly easy to get anywhere from there. Boston is a 55 minute commuter flight from the Lebanon, NH airport, and Amtrak has daily service to NYC.
